Hello hello.
I’ve agonized this over quite a bit and thought I was nearing a decision, but here I am. Deciding between LBS, Ross, Stern, and CBS. For me, I’d hope the MBA would serve these purposes:
1) experience / meet new people / ~fun~ live laugh love etc
2) short-term: tactical career advancement
3) long-term: reputation in SF / NY / London, maybe Vancouver
4) flexible academics / approachable professors / not too intense
Experience:
Apologies if this describes every MBA, but I’m hoping to feel invested in a new community, travel, etc. Weather not a factor, but variety of activities is important. City location ideal, so long as it doesn’t include a fragmented community feel. Not looking for too competitive of a student body, a little is fine. Also I’m gay.
Career:
Currently in product at a large consumer brand, and looking to move into more of an entrepreneurial environment. Ideally real estate development (would have to recruit on my own?), but perhaps a start-up or tech - less corporate red tape please. Would like to be in SF, NYC, or London in the 3-5 years after graduation.

I would probably discard Ross (not knowing your scholarship info and assuming you got zilch) since Ross heavily places into Corporate and Large companies. Many MBA's do frankly - that is the best/easiest and most logical path but at the same time, if you are doing recruiting on your own, I feel you would be best served recruiting on the ground (e.g. NY, SF, London).
I would probably choose CBS. It is the dominant school in New York. Strong presence across the board - Undergrad, Med School (I think), Law School, etc. You get great support in the city. You can join a variety of startups within that network. The name also travels well, and much better than Stern or Ross or LBS.
I would caution against LBS. It could totally be the best 2 years of your life. It could also be the most disastrous and frustrating. I don't know if my OB prof made it up or not but in her consulting career she said, the greatest expat failures tend to happen in the UK as US folks expect it to be similar and language the same but it seems they struggled in UK more than in any other country. LBS name also does not travel as much/well in the US and if things don't go as well as you expect, your risks are the highest. You would have to jump through hoops to finance your MBA (it is trickier to borrow going abroad) and hoops to secure a work permit and recruit.... and if you are looking for a small firm to recruit to, I can't see them wanting to have an international person and have that on their hands, not unless you are willing to work for less or some other reason. I don't know enough about UK work permit rules but can you even work in small companies there with a work permit? (I believe it is completely different from the US H1B process but something important to square away).
My vote goes to CBS as it stands at the moment
