Hi,
I have been accepted at HEC Paris and IESE Barcelona for their 2021 intake. I should let them know my decision soon. I have been offered a scholarship of 10K by HEC and nothing (yet) from IESE.
My postcareer goal is MBB in Germany (I am fluent in German), have spoken to Alumni MBB alumni from IESE, but no one from HEC so far. I personally am tending towards choosing IESE for its strength in consulting, case-methodology as well as its location, but with the scholarship and the course duration it ends up being 30K more than HEC, which makes me think if its worth it. My first preference was IESE, followed closely by HEC - so that leaves me in an unenviably confused state.
Any advice? I very much appreciate some thoughts and input.

Congrats on your admits!
My understanding is that the HEC has a very strong Masters Program and MBA is somewhat catching up at this point.
IESE has a strong brand as an MBA.
But keep in mind that MBB is hard and tricky to get into. Many of your classmates will be shooting for it and trying. You will have German classmates too who are more fluent so you need to have a good reason why you will be picked and why you will get through the multiple MBB interviews. I hope you have the polish and skills that it takes to get through. Always a good idea to consider a Plan B for recruiting and what that may look like and if that has any impact on the HEC/IESE decision.

Assuming you do go into consulting in Europe, I'm not sure the EUR 30k difference will be very material in the long term (and you do get 3 more months if you go that route). Some important drivers might be: 1) where you would rather be (Spain vs. France, and the specific cities); 2) your cultural fit in each school (sounds like you haven't talked much to people from HEC). Maybe try to talk to more than just people from consulting, since you will be spending time together with people that have many different interests; 3) researching each school's reach in Germany, which is your target location post-MBA (I know IESE has a campus in Munich); 4) your preferred program length.
