Congratulations on your admits, old timer! 😎
Simon used to be the big finance powerhouse. It was a strong school and strong brand pre-2008 financial crisis but the collapse of the financial industry took the school down with it and they never really fully recovered.
There is a strong emphasis on finance, research and being a strong financial thought leader. At the same time, the focus on the theoretical papers and publications, has hurt the school since few people care how many papers get published but rather about what jobs they can get.
It is pretty common for Simmons folks to take road trips to New York and do recruiting trips there. Many East Coast schools do that as well or I should say used used to do that. 😬
For Kelly, it’s a bit of a mystery. We had reached out to Kelly last year about getting a couple of their students to respond to questions about the school and admissions team connected us with probably 10 of their ambassadors which was awesome. We have asked them to comment on some of the questions about the program and to potentially post some reviews of the program. In a very mysterious way, they all posted reviews but then nobody really made any post comments to defend her schools honor. That is surprising and disturbing to me....
In general, people tend to get fuzzy feeling about admissions teams from lowering schools because they tend to be nicer and more engaging and more willing to go be on the call of duty in my experience. That is their job and it’s a hard one. At the same time, hiring school stent attract more people so the admissions doesn’t have to be fuzzy and welcoming succeed succeed in their job. However, once you get admitted, you will never really interact with admissions again and once you’re in, it’s all about recruiting and opportunities that I present it to you. Unless you found a community and you’re already connected with a bunch of Simon’s people and you feel strongly about it, Kelly has a significantly higher ranking and that would have significantly greater impact on your future, career, opportunities than a welcoming feeling you received from Simon.
Since you’re Somewhat uncertain about your career track in finance and it is not your daily life and you’re not looking to dive deep into theoretical models, I think Kelley would be a slightly better and safer bet overall...
