It probably doesn’t matter a whole lot for you since you’re staying with your employer in the immediate future. So I would say the alarm network has only so much strength. And it gets weaker as time goes by… however if you’re not looking at it as well transaction but rather being a part of a club, it makes sense to be a part of a more exclusive and fancy club. At the same time if you’re part of a exclusive and fancy club that is far away, that also doesn’t have much value :-)

At the same time, the biggest network you will have is not some nebulous alarms call pretty disconnected with the program but rather your classmates. So think about who you’d like to be associated with and who would you be willing to help out and who would help you out. It’s possible they will refer you to a job or in some cases maybe will even work for them. So think about who you’d like to be associated with and who would you be willing to help out and who would help you out. It’s possible they will refer you to a job or in some cases maybe will even work for them or with them… that will be your strongest and most powerful network. Hello again, if you’re not planning to tap it for a number of years after graduation since I’m assuming employer would require you to pay back the tuition unless you work for a number of years, And by that time you’re not very likely to be bugging random people who graduated years ago but rather have your own established at work already. I think about it just like you think about your undergrad. How often do you hear from somebody needing help from your undergrad or how often do you reach out back to them?

thank you bb. It certainly makes sense. So essentially there is not much difference in my case if I go to Tepper or Stern and I should decide based on my personal choice between in-person and hybrid. Thank you for the advice and I appreciate you taking time to respond to me.

Yes. That is correct in your case. However as mentioned before your class profiles will be different and caliber of students will be different too.

Good luck!

Thanks bb, so if I understood it correctly then you meant that class profile at stern will be better than the tepper one even though the average gmat for pt tepper (674) is much higher than stern (647) and probably the acceptance is higher for stern than tepper. Is it correct?

Part time reputation is generally predicated on the full-time ranking. Tepper has a lower acceptance rate* (for the flex, unsure about the online program) and higher GMAT, but the class size is an order of magnitude smaller (25 in 2019, 33 in 2021, vs ~400 in fall and 300 in spring for Stern). The online program you're going into has a slightly larger intake at ~80, but is still much smaller combined. So you should consider the extent of the alumni network as well.

Another consideration is that the intake at Tepper has a higher percentage of people coming from tech, which aligns with your career goals. But the absolute number of people coming in from tech from Stern is much larger due to the intake size.

Hello Friends,
I have been admitted to Stern Part time and Tepper online-hybrid programs for this year Fall. When I got the acceptance from Stern it was all decided but the Tepper acceptance has made me confused and undecided. Here is the list of pros and cons that I have found and I am interested to know your thoughts if you were in my place.

My profile: 38 yrs technical architect with 15 yrs exp. in a banking and financial services firm. My goal is to leverage mba for Product management role or for moving up fast in management roles in my organization.
Executive mba is out of question because I can't afford the fee and my employer doesn't support exec MBAs, so I had to go for part time only.

Stern:
+ Well known brand and everyone in my org's top management considers it a reputed college. Though it may not have any tangible value but it feels better to have Stern brand name on your resume. (am I correct?)
+ In person class.
+ Being in NYC, it seems to have a more influence around my area (Philadelphia) and has a large alumni network than Tepper
- Saturday option, which means not all electives are offered on Saturday and I might not be able to get what I want.
- Travel to NY from Philadelphia on Saturday and I am not too concerned of it but I would have to travel on weekdays for some evening classes if it is a technology related course.
- Limited campus recruitment but as I am already in the job so it doesn't impact me
- Cost: ~ 140K (100% Reimbursed by the employer)

Tepper:
+ Better brand for technology but overall not as well known as Stern
+ Rigorous curriculum and all courses are available to choose
+ Hybrid - In person + online means more flexibility and less travel and hence I can spend more time on studies
+ Campus recruitment available to everyone but it may not help me much as most/all of the on campus are meant for fresh graduates
- A less well known brand than Stern
- Smaller alumni network
- Online component but not sure if this is truly a negative since all mini-semesters start with in-person access weekend and then it has interactive online classes.
- Cost: Got a 30k scholarship but since my employer is reimbursing the tuition, so it may not matter to me.

I am eager to know your thoughts and the things which I haven't thought about or have missed. One of thing which I really don't know is that how much different is alumni network in Tepper and Stern, and which one will help me better in the long run.
Thank you for your time.

bb : I have been in this forum for a long time and have read a lot of knowledgeable and amazing posts from you and I would love to hear your thought if you can spare a few mins here. Thank you.

I would pick Stern.

ON a seperate note, please I have a question. You said you are from Philadelphia. I just got accepted into Temple University MBA program. Please what is your opinion about the school. is it a good program? DO you think employers would think highly of a Temple MBA? Thanks

Temple MBA is pretty famous…. Not for great reasons though. They had some improper ranking information submitted and there was a scandal. However that was years ago but I think there’s still some cloud left over them…

As bb said, I did hear about that fox business school scandal and i think temple paid for its settlement..sorry but honestly I really don’t have much insight into it. I do have many people working in our org from temple but as far as i know it’s considered good but not exceptional..if you have any specific questions or just wanted to have a quick chat, feel free to drop me a private message here and i will share my contact.
Bb - as always, thank you :)
