Hi,

I'm looking to exchange opinions about the factors one might consider when choosing between a European school vs an American school. For example, some factors I can think of are:
The length of the program (1 year vs 2 year)
Program cost
Class demography
The geography one might want to work in post MBA
Brand value of the program - some top US programs being more well known globally?

I am an Indian male Chartered Accountant with 8 years of accounting experience, looking to move into consulting.

Hello jatin22,

Besides the points mentioned by you, your career goals and employment prospects pertaining to the same (and, in general, as well) would be important points for you to consider as well. Some European economies are not in great shape and that could have implications for your prospects. This is not to say that any geography is straightforward. However, there are some that are doing better than others.

Thank you.

All the best!

Hey Jatin22, it’s quite often getting confused between choosing an ideal study abroad destination even more so when comparing two of the most popular destinations EU and USA.
Let me help you.
I’m going to compare the US and EU in 3 most important metrics: Employability, Visa, University ranking.

Let’s first talk about University rankings.
It’s no secret that the US tops most of the rankings in business degrees but just behind the US every year giving an equal standoff stands EU.
So it doesn’t mean you won’t get quality education in EU universities. It depends on your personal preference.

Now let’s talk about employability
EU and US both stand equally in this arena.

Student Visa/Post Study Work Visa
This can be a major deciding factor for students. It has been observed that getting visa is comparetively easier in EU than US.

These are some of the major deciding factors you need to consider while choosing your study abroad destination.

Coming on to factors you mentioned above let me clear that also:

The length of the program (1 year vs 2 year): 1 year masters is only available in UK and in selective subjects, if it’s MBA the course length is 2 years in every country

Program cost:
There isn’t much difference in tuition fees of MBA schools

Class demography: In the past few years we there has been an increase in international students in every university around the world, you need to present yourself in such a way that no school can reject you

The geography one might want to work in post MBA: That is really a personal choice

Brand value of the program - some top US programs being more well known globally: As I mentioned before some of the top universities are situated in US but that doesn’t reduce the brand value of other top universities of EU. Wharton is as good as Oxford

Both EU and US universities are pretty good, you need make sure you meet their eligibility criteria.

Hope this helps.
