admitStreet I did - unfortunately, I was made the waitlist offer after I shared the updates from IMD and IE!

achloes - you would get varied opinions on this depending on who you ask. At the end of the day, it's about introspecting and prioritizing your preferences (personal/ professional) to take the action that offers the best risk-reward ratio.

I can share some thoughts over a chat if you'd like (again, those would be my views, but could potentially help assess your factors): feel free to reach out thro' the email ID below.

Hey all,

I'm in a massive dilemma as I've been waitlisted at my first choice school, INSEAD (Aug 2024 intake), while subsequently being offered seats at IMD and IE (Jan 2024 intake).

While I've accepted the waitlist offer at INSEAD, I do need to make a decision on the IMD and IE offers within the next week.

I'm an Indian female with lots of international experience (lived in 5 countries and attended international schools throughout). I've got 8 years of work experience in marketing, with the past 5 years in emerging tech startups across fintech, crypto, and blockchain.

Post-MBA, I'd like to work for a big tech company, preferably in product management. My long-term goal is to become an entrepreneur or a senior tech leader.

My logic in applying to these schools (and intakes) was to have the option to start sooner if I didn't get into INSEAD, however, the waitlist offer has definitely thrown a spanner in the works.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could share their perspective on whether it makes sense to wait it out for INSEAD or accept one of the two offers I have in hand!

Thank you in advance.

achloes INSEAD alumna here.
It's disappointing that you're on INSEAD's waiting list, given your strong and meritorious profile. But look on the bright side, both IMD and IE are excellent schools where you can still achieve your goals. Waiting until the INSEAD waitlist is cleared isn't the wisest decision in my opinion. Among the current offers, IMD is the more attractive option due to its program selectivity and focus on leadership. While there may be some differences in the recruiting pipelines, they're probably not significant. IMD is a great great alternative to INSEAD :) The only potential drawback after IMD could be the relatively limited brand recognition in certain regions, but this becomes less critical after the first few years.

Also, waitlists are dynamic and INSEAD does give preference to applicants with strong advocacy from INSEAD alumni, particularly those with whom you may have worked directly. If you have contacts who can make a convincing case for you, don't hesitate to seek their help.

Best wishes

Aanchal Sahni (INSEAD alum, former INSEAD admissions interviewer)

Hi, INSEAD alum here.
Sorry to hear about the waitlist, but congrats on your other offers!
I agree that IMD seems the most attractive option; just keep in mind that, from what I know, the "vibe" at IMD and INSEAD is very, very different if this is an important element for you.
INSEAD might appreciate if you follow up with them and try to ask explicitly about actions you could take to get off the waitlist; at least, that's what worked for a classmate of mine.
And of course you might have already done this, but consider asking IMD and IE for an extension on the deadline; schools can be accommodating.
Fingers crossed!
