Hey Everyone,
I have a pleasant champagne problem to choose between Rotman School of Management and IESE Business School for admission in the fall of 2024.
I have a consulting background with over 6 years of experience working with MBB. Post MBA, I want to continue working in Consulting.
My nationality is from one of the South Asian Countries. But I plan to settle in the location of my studies or in neighboring regions.
The decision for the Scholarship is still pending from both the colleges.
The following are my criteria -
Visa: As an international student, I need to make sure that I can secure a work permit after graduation from business school. In addition, I want to stay in the country where I study or work for residential purposes eventually for more international experiences. Canada has a more friendly immigration policy for foreigners. Canada offers 3 years of Work Permit while IESE offers only 6 months by default.
Employment - The employment report for both schools shows promising figures. Rotman with 97% placements in first 3 months and IESE with 94% in first 3 months. Alumni from Rotman have been able to secure a job in Canada while students from IESE had to move to either UAE or UK for placements.
Ranking - Based on the Financial Times ranking, IESE stands at 3 and Rotman is at 67.
Living - Although both the cities (Toronto and Barcelona) are beautiful, IESE does not offer dormitory/living accommodations, while the University of Toronto has living facilities within walking distance from campus and even offers assistance to secure a living facility before arriving. Based on Alumni research, IESE students live away from campus and commute for 40-80 minutes daily.
Language - Studying at IESE may involve me learning Spanish to converse with the locals while in Canada I would be able to converse with the locals in English
Teaching Method - IESE relies on Case Study Methodology which is more interactive and engaging than the combination of classroom and case study method at UoT.
Electives selection - IESE has a bidding process in place which may lead to some students not getting their choice of electives due to class size restrictions. While, Rotman alots the electives based on the student's choice.
I would be greatly thankful for anyone to give me any advice regarding my decision-making for business school and country.
Thank You In Advance for your Guidance and Advice
