I'd save you and I time: go to Booth!
😂👍 well said!
I think there’s probably not much difference in recruiting and it’s going to be really hard to predict chances after each program since there are so many variables… I would say that while you do want to go back to New York, your best opportunities will be on the West Coast for tech. Obviously Facebook has offices in New York as well but being close to headquarters provide you with the most opportunities and the most exposure. The best strategies to spend a couple years at the head office and then splinter off into a regional office… but you don’t have to.
In terms of community and school, booth has everyone living downtown Chicago. Everyone lives in a small radius of a few apartment buildings. Everyone takes the train for 30 or 45 minutes to go to school. This is nice and convenient because it’s very easy to have group meetings and hang out with your classmates.
One nice thing about Columbia would be that most likely your classmates would be staying in the city and so those friendships you’ve built would likely endure and also your connection to the school would be stronger but that is just a social part, you don’t really rely on your alumni connections for finding your second job or third job as much as you do on your reputation you build in your first job …
What I’m saying is there are pros and cons to all of them. I would definitely visit booth and connect with a few students in downtown to understand how they experience would be.
