Hi all,
I am in a very fortunate position to be admitted to Booth, ESSEC, and INSEAD's MIM programs. I am struggling to choose between the three schools; each have their pros and cons. I am an American citizen who wants to work abroad and have some international experiences, before most likely returning the the U.S. (for convenience). Most likely will go into consulting but I am very open to exploring different jobs/industries.
I know I can't have it all, Booth would be insanely strong for the U.S. market, and there is a relatively strong international presence along with possibilty of continuing with an accelerated MBA (unsure if I want to go that route though). INSEAD helps me get to the international market off the bat alongside their internships/practicals. ESSEC would also help me get there; although INSEAD's brand name is bigger, ESSEC offered me their full Diversity Scholarship of ~25% tuition fees covered. However, I am very lucky to be in a situation where college tuition/finances will not be a problem, so I am not in need of financial assistance. I am wondering if I can leverage these scholarships at Booth + INSEAD and see if I can get any scholarships there, but 25% is a lot!
Would love to hear any thoughts!

Hey! Congratulations on your admits!
You definitely be somewhat of a minority in those European MiM. programs.
A couple of quick questions:
1. Do you speak French?
2. Where do you want to work? In what country? France, UK, The Netherlands, UAE?
3. Booth - this is their brand new program that opened a year or two ago is that right?

Hi bb! Thanks for dropping by.
1. I actually do speak an intermediate amount of French, I think I am at a level eligible for ESSEC's French courses, although I am not too confident in that ability. *Also not exactly looking to work in France, but would be nice to study there haha.
2. Preferably I would like to work in East Asia. Singapore, China, off the top of my head (I'm an American citizen of Asian descent). In the future (maybe 4-6 years after I graduate) I can see myself returning to the U.S. I will not have to go through visa processes to work in the U.S., but I feel that alumni in the U.S. is still a pretty important factor. Open to places like the UK and Australia, but not as much as the U.S.
3. This program will begin this year for the first time, 2024. Their website notes the ability to use MIM credits for their accelerated MBA program, but still awaiting details on how to get there. Would be willing to take the gamble and explore their program; I was about to choose Booth over INSEAD but ESSEC has me reconsidering their options.

Got it! In that case I would probably recommend INSEAD as you would have ability to bug and engage the INSEAD alum base in SE Asia and Singapore. However, it is hard to recruit into SE Asia while being in France or the US. It is not like you can't but it is just hard because the hiring manager will be confused why you are applying and wondering if you submitted to the wrong continent/country/etc and so on. You also won't have a work permit in SE Asia to work on and so the company will have to get your work permit in place BEFORE you can start. I am not familiar enough with work permits in Singapore for example but I doubt ESSEC will help much there and attending the INSEAD may be more attractive as you will have a 1-year or something along those like work permit to help you get some breathing room. Hope it helps.
P.S. Sorry these are all logistical issues and seemingly not so critical but that's what gets you in the end. Consulting companies don't care what classes you took as much as can you present and represent them and do you have the right work permit.
