Hi All,
I got admits from HKUST and Vlerick Business School. HKUST is giving me 40% scholarship on Tuition Fees of 600000HKD. Vlerick is giving only 20% scholarship on tuition fees of 42000 Euros. Can I negotiate my scholarships with these two schools? If Yes, how to approach the schools.
I have done my B. Tech. I come from consulting background. I am currently working in TCS for last 4 years in India. I want to return back to India after my MBA. I want to work in Technology field. May I know which one will be good for me?
May I know which one will be good for me? How is the ROI of both the schools? Please tell me the average living expenses in Hong Kong and Belgium for modest living.
Anything else that I should consider.

Hi there. Congrats on your admits.
I would say the HKUST is going to be a substantially stronger brand globally. I don’t know about India unfortunately so you will have to judge it for yourself.
There are a few interesting elements to the program and the job opportunities afterwards.
1. The first semester of your second year is either a study abroad exchange or an internship. HKUST partners with a whole bunch of top business schools including Kellogg, Yale, Wharton, LBS and others. You would get an honorary degree / diploma from the other program. You can’t use it instead of yours but it’s a cool little trick to throw on your résumé.
2. Recruiting in Hong Kong is tough. I think you probably know it and the fact that you are planning to go back should work well. Otherwise to find a job locally you have to know the language
3. The school is a lipid ways out. Your best options to live on campus because otherwise there’s nothing around. You are about a 20 minute ride in a mini bus to the closest MTR station. Living on campus will be the most economical and also advantageous solution.

I haven't hear about Vlerick Business School, but definitely know HKUST and know Indians who have studied there ( I have helped a few as well).
For me, the selling point is the exchange semester. Indians have the choice of LBS, which IMO is fantastic. To add to this, you can call yourself an LBS alumnus and also join their local networking groups once you graduate and return to India (talking from experience of a family member who is an LBS alumnus)
You will have to find out the ROI yourself, but my suggestion would be to go to a country where you: 1. want to live for a few years after MBA, 2. getting a job is a lesser problem, 3. language is a lesser deterrent. Also consider the current situation of both country's economies, and the post MBA visa situation.
You may decide to work in the country of MBA for a few years after the MBA and then head back to India, so factor this into the decision making as well.
