Really you can't go wrong with either one, for me NSHMBA was a better experience likely because I had more interviews and event invites lined up ahead of time.

I decided to opt out.
Most of the firms that I want to recruit for come on campus. Also, I don't feel 'ready' to interview. A bad first impression may jeopardize my chances, I feel. Plus, to me, it actually sounds pretty weird that anyone and everyone can go to NBMBA and such conferences. Defeats the purpose. Actually, I don't know if firms have started to expect that now and plan their recruiting activities based on that assumption.
