Approach- as the amount is to be divided equally into 3. Add all the amount given to children with estate value totaling $138K this amount is to be distributed among all three equally. So each get 46K, as youngest child already have 2K he will get 44K more (ans D).

what we need to do first is to figure out the totale value of estate + gifts -> 111k + 15k + 10k + 2k = 138k. Therefore, the amount equally distributed to the 3 children is 138k/3 =  46k . Therefore the youngest children would need to receive 46k - 2k =  44k   from the estate
