Hello EMPOWERgmatRichC,

I have a success rate of 70-80% on DS questions. In my last CAT, I got 12 questions wrong in the quant section, out of which 9 are because of a silly/little mistake.
Is there any material preferable other than OG for scoring 51.

Hi SantoshGmat91,

Based on what you've just described, the primary 'area' that you need to work on is your 'precision/process.' WHY did those 9 silly/little mistakes happen? Be honest with your assessment - what could you have done differently when dealing with those prompts? (hint: the answer almost always involves taking more notes).

1) What materials have you used so far during your studies?

Hi SantoshGmat91,

From the resources that you've listed, you've used a 'book-heavy' study approach; many Test Takers who use that type of approach get 'stuck' at a particular scoring level and it's possible that this is what has happened to you. To raise your Quant Scaled Score, you might need to invest in some new non-book resources and practice some new Tactics.

Hi SantoshGmat91,

If you're looking for alternatives to "your way" of approaching Quant questions, then you'll likely find plenty of them in the posts here (in the various Quant questions posted in DS and PS). If you're more interested in resources that will teach you those methods, patterns, and the little 'secrets' behind the GMAT - and give you practice questions that you can hone those 'Tactical skills' on - then you'll likely need to invest in some new online resources.

1) When are you next planning to take the GMAT?

Hi SantoshGmat91,

With a Test Date in April or May, you have plenty of time to continue studying and improve. As such, you might be able to make the necessary adjustments on your own and raise your Quant score. If you would rather attack this problem head-on, and in the most efficient way possible, then I think that you would find the EMPOWERgmat Quant Score Booster to be quite helpful. Most of our clients complete that Study Plan in under a month, so the time commitment wouldn't be too intense. We have a variety of free resources on our site (https://www.empowergmat.com), so you can 'test out' the Course before setting up an account.

If you have any additional questions, then you can feel free to contact me directly.

Rich
