Width 2.25 , so to calculate the area of need length
two points are common between parabola and line so
X^2-4X+1.75=0
(x-.5)(x-3.5)=0
x=.5 and X=3.5 both of these points line on line Y=0
so length = 3.5 - .5 = 3
area = 2.25*3 = 6.75

The bold part means CD is also the two roots of equation
x^2-4X+1.75= 0 ------> There can only be TWO intersections between the rectangle and the parabola. If not, please show me the exception
