Step 1: Analyse Question Stem
Is yz > wz?
Step 2: Analyse Statements Independently (And eliminate options) – AD/BCE
Statement 1: \(y > w\)
- • Case I: If z is positive, then \(y*z > w*z\).
• Case II: If z is negative, then \(y*z < w*z\)
• We are getting different results.
Statement 2: \(z^3 < z\)
- • We don’t know anything about y and w
- o Thus, we can’t answer the question.
Step 3: Analyse Statements by combining.
From statement 1: \(y > w\)
Statement 2: \(z^3 < z\)
- • Case I: If \(z = \frac{1}{ 2}\), then \(z^3 = \frac{1}{ 8}, z^3 < z\)
- o Then \(\frac{y}{2} > \frac{w}{2}, y*z > w*z\)
- o Then \(y*-2 < w*-2, y*z < w*z\)
