Let the initial salary be x
Increase of 16% = (16/100) = 4/25 increase.
x * (1 + (4/25)) = $406
x * (29/25) = $406
x = ($406*25) / 29
x = $ 350
Now, the increase is 10% from 350, will add 35 to 350.
So, the new increase = 10%*(350)+35 = $385.
