cube of a non-integer, either decimal or a fraction

A. –64 = -4*-4*-4--
B. –1 = -1*-1*-1 --
C. 8 = 2*2*2 --
D. 9 -- 3*3 ??
E. 27 = 3*3*3 --

9 is not a cube of a non-integer , As it is a square of an integer 3
Can anyone pls explain option D

Hey,

The cube of a non-integer means that out of given options, which one is obtained by multiplying a non-integer three times.

    A. \(-64\) can be written as \(-8 * -8 * - 8\)
    Since we multiplying three negative integers to get -64, this can't be our answer.

    B. \(- 1\) can be written as \(-1 * -1 * -1\)
    Since we multiplying three negative integers to get -1, this can't be our answer.

    C. \(8\) can be written as \(2 * 2 * 2\)
    Since we multiplying three positive integers to get 8, this can't be our answer.

    D. \(9\) can be written as \(3^{\frac{2}{3}}\) * \(3^{\frac{2}{3}}\) * \(3^{\frac{2}{3}}\) = \((3^3)^{\frac{2}{3}}\)
    Since we multiplying three postive non-integers to get 9, this has to be our answer.


    E. \(27\) can be written as \(3 * 3 * 3\)
    Since we multiplying three positive integers to get 27, this can't be our answer.

Hence the correct answer is Option D.

Since -64 = (-4)^3, -1 = (-1)^3, 8 = 2^3, and 27 = 3^3, we see that the only answer that is equal to the cube of a non-integer is 9.

We see that 9 = (∛9)^3, and ∛9 is not an integer.
