Hello! Just a curiosity... :-D
While going through the RC part of Verbal, I keep asking myself whether the information I am "forced" to read for this exam is real. Is it taken from real studies? real articles?
If the information were real, at least I would be learning something :wink:

Does anyone know where do the RC passages come from?

RC passages are extracted from old articles, which are studies about some specific topics. I think that, yes, they are real, and they are good enough for us to learn something new :-D

I find interested in some topics like galaxy, science, but quite bored with some topics like history :-(

Great to know!
It is more motivating to read something we know is real rather than just GMAT-focused. I am enjoying both history and science passages and glad I will be learning something out of it regardless of what will be my GMAT score :)

The information in RC passages is real :) and one can actually learn quite a bit from the passages.

Paying attention to the content of the passages will make you a better a better informed person - and that's not all.

A lack of background knowledge is one of the reasons many test takers find RC difficult.
The passages you encounter during GMAT RC practice can help to build up some background knowledge.

So it's good to pay attention to the contents of the passages: doing so will help you do better in RC, probably in CR and SC too.
