Hello Guys,
While I was going thru the Atlantic, I stumbled upon an article which started with a Parallel sentence as follows:
In February 2011, Swiss citizens voted in a referendum that called for a national gun registry and for firearms owned by members of the military to be stored in public arsenals.
I am not able to make sense of the parallel structure of this sentence. Is there an error?
Appreciate your advise/comments on this??

The parallelism comes from the fact that the referendum called for two things.
The referendum called:
1) for a national gun registry
and
2) for firearms owned by members of the military to be stored in public arsenal
If you reduce it down even more the sentence would be:
Swiss citizens voted in a referendum that called for X and for Y
The referendum called:
1) for a national gun registry
and
2) for firearms owned by members of the military to be stored in public arsenal
If you reduce it down even more the sentence would be:
Swiss citizens voted in a referendum that called for X and for Y
