Hi all
I am preparing for GMAT for last two months . Till now I have given 8 mock test in that I have scored 510 maximum. My quant marks are preety good but due to verbal my marks are going down . I have tried a lot to understand the sentence correction and critical reasoning questions. But every time I am scoring 12 -15 range marks in verbal .
I dont know how to improve. Please help .

Hi Prerna! your current Verbal score (12-15) shows that significant effort needs to be put in, to move the needle.
Also, since you mention SC as your specific area of concern, thought I would mention that our sentence correction book Sentence Correction Nirvana is perhaps the only book that offers a score improvement guarantee, and is especially designed for non-native speakers.
After reading the book twice (yes! it's an academic book, and so must be read twice in all seriousness, to reinforce the concepts), you will start looking forward to solving SC questions!
The book is available on Flipkart and Amazon.in. You might want to refer to these sites, to also read testimonials of how readers have benefited.

Hi Prerna,
I used to get the same score even after studying for a year, and I was very disappointed to see that I have not improved at all. And now from 2-3 months, I am continuously scoring around 25.
For SC I started maintaining an error log. When I used to solve the question I checked where I made a mistake, what concept I am lacking, what rule I am unaware of. I read Manhattan SC book 6th edition at least 3 to 4 times. I wrote down the rules which I was not aware and revised it on daily basis. And you can keep a checklist while solving an SC question. If you are not able to find any definite error then check that error type checklist which can include clause or modifiers all types of common error.
For CR, I read powerscore twice and made short notes. Whenever I used to solve a question I used to check what I need to get my answer correct. For example, if you get strengthen or weaken question you have to focus more importantly on conclusion. This will help you eliminate at least 3 options easily.
For RC, If you get better at SC and CR RC is not all that tough then. You will understand the meaning of the passage well so you will get answers correct. Just don't time yourself eventually you can reduce the time.
