Hi, I'm a tutor who has a valid V48, a Verbal score no one should probably feel compelled to get! This is an AMA post regarding anything on the Verbal section. Please link any gmatclub links to the Official Questions you'd like to discuss Of course, feel free to ask anything related to the section in general such as grammar, too!

Hiiii Great to interact with someone who has aced Verbal. 1. Can you please share your ESR, so that we may get an idea about how many a person can miss and still score a V48? 2. Can you please share your tips specifically for SC? There are many posts and videos mentioning the grammar and meaning issues? But anything specific apart from the usual that helped you? Any specific strategy or any special points that one need to keep in mind?
It's interesting. I think there is a difference when it comes to reviewing and going into GMAT battlemode (i.e. during an actual mock or exam). I usually teach students to answer questions more efficiently. Most of you would recognize that as simply cutting out the obvious incorrect answer choices due to faulty idioms, but you can go further. There's also the issue with simply being unable to let a question go. Fun Fact: the one incorrect counted question I had was on the RC section. It was a question I got down to two answer choices but met a wall. Ironically, because I was intent on doing very well on Verbal it may have played a part in my being reluctant to "just make a choice and moving on". The point is that anyone can get sucked into harming their overall performance even if they KNOW (in the actual moment) what they are doing can be harmful.
"Can a pronoun refer to a possessive antecedent or not?" - SC Query by a poster on Reddit who already knew a significant amount about the topic
My Comment:
Got a V48 on my last GMAT with no counted SC incorrect. This may sound weird but the level of depth you're going to may have a net negative affect. Be careful to not become an absolute prisoner to these rules. You're aware of what is preferable and picking the best answer choice is the task at hand.
The dinosaur's tail meant that it could not walk straight ---> On GMAT SC, this sentence would likely be incorrect.
Although Elizabeth Barrett Browning's success was later overshadowed by that of her husband, among her contemporaries she was considered the better poet -- > That being said, this answer choice is a verified, correct answer choice.
