We have to select an answer choice which brings forward the Authors view about enhancing General Awareness which selective reading from Online / Digital Reading can not provide....

Only (C) highlights the issue, hence correct Answer must be (C)..

B, D, and E can be eliminated directly as these options are irrelevant.
Between A and C we can see even if a newspaper has several topics but nothing about reading is mentioned in A. Hence ans is C

Above is correct answer choice.Small clarification required.
If some small article which one may not notice in a digital platform and can see in a printed version,how does it effect the conclusion-(To increase general knowledge)

The option C says that probability of ' reading ' stories, and not just noticing them, is less on an online portal than on traditional newspaper. So this option clearly helps to explain why traditional newspaper can contribute more to enhance consumer's general awareness.

= there are less chances that stories will go unnoticed in digital version-(1)
= " they prefer to pick and choose which stories they want to read"(2)
from (1) & (2)
In digital version, people can't skim through the whole newspaper. They only pick and read stories in which they are interested in. While in traditional news paper, People get the luxury to skim through the whole newspaper, enhancing their (the consumers’) general awareness.
