Question

No horse finished ahead of Cold Molasses, and no horse finished behind Bag O'Bones. Also, no horse finished between Cold Molasses and Three-Leg Charlie. Therefore (assume no ties):

A) Cold Molasses finished second or third.

B) Bag O'Bones came in fourth or better.

C) Three-Leg Charlie finished either second or third.

D) Three-Leg Charlie may have finished first, but at least he did not finish last.

E) Bag O'Bones finished ahead of Cold Molasses.

How come C, then statement will be false, since nobody finishes in between Cold Molasses and Three-Leg Charlie?

I think the OA is C.

B is false, because it states that there are 4 or less horses. However, there is no information about the number of horses in the argument. For example, if the quant is 6, B is wrong.

C is correct. Even though the argument assumes that Three-Leg Charlie could come third, it still does not refute that Three-Leg Charlie could come second.

C is the only answer

I think it shud be D

there can be two possibilities

B(all horses) C T
or
B(all horses) T C

I don t sees how T can be at the third place

therefore rule out C

So CM finished first, rule out A

BoB finished last, rule out B & E

If CM is 1st, TLC m/b 2nd. Rule out D, leaving only C
