20. Brad wanted to go to fish with his dad, but they had to wait because it was a dreary and
rainy day.
a) wanted to go to fish with his dad, but they had to wait
b) and his dad were wanting to go to fish, but they were waiting

d) wanted going to fish with his dad, but they were waiting
e) planned on going fishing with his dad, but it needed waiting
The official answer is C but I am not satisfied with the answer as it doesn't seem right. Please someone enlighten me.
39. Gary’s brother told him that he would attend the graduation ceremony if it would be
possible.
a) would attend the graduation ceremony if it would be possible
b) will attend the graduation ceremony if it is possible
c) might be able to attend the graduation ceremony if it could be a possibility
d) should be able to attend the graduation ceremony if it might be a possibility
e) will attend the graduation ceremony if it was possible
The official answer is b. How can we change the tense of the sentence in SC?
41. The professor assumed that Michelle probably have stayed up late last night since she fell
asleep in class.
a) Michelle probably have stayed up
b) for a fact Michelle was staying up too
c) Michelle must have stayed up
d) Michelle probably must had stayed up
e) it was possible of Michelle staying up
The answer is C. With this answer, what was probable previously is made certain by using "must". What is the problem with the original sentence?
Can we change the meaning itself to correct the sentence? or, we correct the sentence while keeping the same meaning?
Please, can anybody explain?

i just cant understand the first st but i can explain you the second and the third....
for the first st i chose A but the answer is C and i dont understand either.
for the second st, its a kind of grammar form in english....
transfer derect speech into inderect speech....
this sentence should be " gary told his brother " i will attend the graduation ceremony if it will be
possible" this is a derect speech
transferred inderect speech" gary's brother told him he would atten the graduation ceremony if it would be possible"
the explanation for this part is kinda long, i think the best to understand its rule is to read about it...
3/ for the third i chose b because this is a kind of guessing something happened in the pass.... so should be might/must +have +verb in past pasticiple
if the guessing stuff happens in the present it should be must
if the guessing happened in the past it should be might,

First question seems wrong: Where is the dad in choice C?, have you typed well?
Second question: would canniot be placed after "if" in the same clause.
Third question: "probably HAVE" is wrong. Michele is singular.

We can use 'must' to show that we are certain something is true. We are making a logical deduction based upon some clear evidence or reason.
E.g.> There's no heating on. You must be freezing.
The evidence/reason in your example is "she fell asleep in class"
