We require a) that to introduce the belief b) a ‘but’ to mark the transition and 3) ‘few actions’ to define a count and plural noun ‘actions ‘, all which are found in E only.

MEANING, REPORTING VERBS, TENSES, COUNTABLE NOUNS

A. that gender diversity in leadership is linked to better financial performance and companies take few actions to support ------- "And" doesn't make sense. We need a contrast in this sentence because they are saying that executives believe "Gender diversity has benefits BUT companies do not do an adequate job supporting women".


B. gender diversity in leadership was linked to better financial performance, but companies take less actions to support ------ 1. "Was" is in the past and changes the original meaning set in the present. 2. "Less" is a comparative and needs "than". 3. Reporting verbs need a subordinator THAT.
