also in A the sequence of events is not smooth

it cirmunavigated the earth, in nine days, first to do so, entered record books...

E is also not the OA.

That narrows your choices down to B, C, or D.

I'd pick C,

I think the modifier is wrong in B. becoming refers to circumnavigation
In D, Think it should be entered instead of entering.
My first guess was A but I think the second modifier is wrong.
Should it not be became instead of becoming

BINGO! Macca got it first. I can`t keep my eyes open any longer, gotta get some sleep before I start to hallucinate :madd

CORRECT ANSWER: C
YOUR LATEST ANSWER: E
Explanation:

Spot the Error:
The descriptive phrase indicates the modifier is being tested. The sentence contains 2 descriptive phrases (circumnavigating the Earth and becoming the ...nonstop) both of which modify Voyager.

Rule and Fix:
A Modifier must be as close as possible to the thing it describes. Currently, the first phrase is correctly placed but the second is not.

POE:
A and B both place a modifying phrase incorrectly.

Chunk and Compare:
Compare C to D.
D creates a list instead of presenting the two events separately as does C. The list however is unbalanced since it uses "circumnavigated" and "entering". Eliminate D.

Compare C to E.
E uses the present tense "enters" which contradicts with the past tense verb "became." Eliminate E.

Reread your choice:
Choose C
