Approach:

The theories of Carl Jung, whose research into conscious and unconscious psychological processes were the basis of analytical psychology, profoundly affected scholars in other fields, including Joseph Campbell, whose writings often explored Jung's concept of archetypes.

A. were the basis of analytical psychology, profoundly affected -- the highlighted verb refers to "research", which is singular. So usage of "were" is incorrect, "Was" should be used

B. was the basis of analytical psychology, have profoundly affected -- No issues with this one, correct choice.

C. was the basis of analytical psychology, has had a profound effect on -- the highlighted verb refers to "theories", which is plural. So usage of "was" is incorrect

D. were the basis of analytical psychology, were a profound effect on -- the highlighted verb refers to "research", which is singular. So usage of "were" is incorrect, "Was" should be used

E. was the basis of analytical psychology and profoundly affected-- usage of "and" is incorrect, it is changing the meaning of sentence. by adding "and" it is adding additional info for description to Carl Jung. It should be to theories of Carl Jung Instead.

Option B

Please correct me if I am wrong, but the usage of “were” should relate to plural subject “the theories” in the beginning of the sentence.

Sentence "whose research into conscious and unconscious psychological processes were the basis of analytical psychology" is a modifier. verb "were" refers to research - which is incorrect as research is singular.

Hope it is clear!
