Nothing wrong with A.

Nope, that's a BLINKING trap. As...as...as... is never used three times to compare two things.

This one is (E)

E says

Baseball, the only major professional sport during the Great Depression, was present and discussed as often as the weather was [present and discussed].

How can weather be present sometimes and sometime not. IMO, weather is always present.

I still stand by my answer i.e A

Darn good point. I stand corrected. The omited portion does distort the meaning. I will edit my bolface post so as not to confuse other members.

was the author trying to say that baseball was as present as weather?

something like: weather was always present and so was baseball..

we are talking about this after a long time..so can we say weather was?
