C

A and B imply that Bill's friends arrived at GCS, not Bill himself.

D and E eliminate vital information like Bill's name and that his friends came to pick him up.

In my Opinion C is wordy and B is correct!

I have put non-essential information in breaket and Now to me sentence makes sense. Bill's Friends arrived at Station and then did rest! In this way we have correct Modifier

What is OA?

B) Arriving at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends [who met him immediately] took him to his speaking engagement

C) When he arrived at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends met him and took him immediately to his speaking engagement

Exactly thats the point...Can't Bill's Friends arrive at Plateform to receive some unknown 'he'?

hehe ... read B one more time ...there is no "he" !

Arriving at Grand Central Station, Bill's friends who met him (doesn't have any antecedent) immediately took him (doesn't have any antecedent) to his speaking engagement

When there is no reference of "he", how can "him" be present ? :-D

D looks correct. A,B,C have modifier/referrant issues. E seems to change to passive inappropriately
