Well B here is passive but the best choice I guess.

C - The fact that - is always wrong in gmat.

No need to use "although" for contrast...
In fact, I don't see a clear contrast here. A contrast should be like:

Although aspirin irritates the stomach, it helps digest fatty food.

Something like that....

Its B - can be got by POE - since for a fact we can eliminate A, C, D and E - although usage is wrong. A is wrong since we need to talk about irritation, which is a wrong usage and face is not to be avoided.
