2 - I think this one is a bit off. It can be improved by incorporating 1-2 more concepts to be tested :)

I agree. I was thinking what this Q is exactly testing here?

Noun vs Verb Usage??

K Now we know that we need a noun. Is it B or E?

Which one is more likely to be the name of a business school course?

Capital Finance / Finance Capital?

I thought it should be B.

It seems to be testing noun phrase construction.
To be honest, I find the question very ambiguous but chose A when I first saw it.

Here is the OA and Explanation: Now that the OA and explanation are posted, can you rate this question in terms of difficulty?
Let's keep the 1-5 scale with 1 being easy and 5 hard.

Answer: E

It is important to note the intended meaning of a sentence. Here, the statement is trying to say that Capital can be raised through a bank. We need to be clear about which word is the subject (noun) and which word is the adjective.

A – Financing capital suggests that capital finances itself. Always be care of words ending in ‘ing’.
B – Capital is used as an adjective here when it should be a noun. Also capital finance is repetitive.
C – Again, ‘financing’ and ‘capital’ is redundant
D – Incorrect subject
E – This is the correct answer because capital is the logical noun and finance capital simply describes the type of capital that needs to be raised.

We are working on a new set of Verbal Tests for GMAT Club. Several members have responded to our "Help Wanted Ad" and submitted their questions. I am posting the first batch and would love to hear your feedback about the questions. I would also like to know your opinion about how close this question is to the Real GMAT (or Official Guide if you have not taken the GMAT yet) on a 1-5 scale where
1 is not close at all
2 is not close
3 is average/undecided
4 is close
5 is exact match

I will post the OA and Explanation in 1-3 days, depending on how many takers we get. Your feedback will help significantly and very much appreciated!

Financing capital can be raised through a bank or through a public offer.

A. Financing capital can be raised through a bank
B. Capital finance can be raised through a bank
C. Financing of capital can be raised through a bank
D. Capital financing can be raised through a bank
E. Finance capital can be raised through a bank

Gramatically I do not see anything difference between B and E. Even "capital finance" is more common than "finance capital". It would be much clearer if one of them (B and E) is not included in the answer choice.

2/5

The Question does seem a bit awkward to be a real GMAT question. As mentioned in the discussion, changing a couple of the wrong choices could help out with this question.

Finance capital sounds fine.
