I heard this somewhere. Is it true? Are the students expected to use the iPads in class? Does the school use the iPads in place of textbooks and such? What if someone prefers to take notes using a notebook or a regular laptop? Can you just leave the iPad behind?

This year's incoming class will get an ipad instead of having their books provided to them. Previous classes don't get an ipad, but will be grandfathered in and have free books supplied.
Supposedly you'll be able to either purchase digital books or physical books yourself. Whichever you prefer. I'm not 100% sure the full reasoning behind the ipad, but I suspect it has something to do with the new building that's being constructed at Haas that features digital classrooms.
