There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
Do people stretch how involved they are with ECs, in terms of hours, responsibilities? Meaning, they are not making things up, but stretching to sound like they have leadership potential and stuff?
How detailed will the background check be? I can't imagine schools calling up schools/ every single non profit to make sure everything on the CV is correct.
is this right? Or they will. It's hard to confirm what tasks you do at a non-profit/ volunteering though.

It seems to me that they do not really check everything in detail. Of course, if there are any valid reasons or there are doubts, in this case, they will check everything. I believe that in order to avoid such situations, there are many services that are engaged in checking and writing similar summaries or essays.
