Hi everybody. Newbie here, sorry if I'm violating any rules in this post.
So I'm interested in Oxford's MFE program. The minimum test score requirement is a 85th percentile for quant and 80th for verbal whereas I have an 89th percentile for quant and 98th for verbal in my GRE (167Q 167V). If I had a 170Q that would have given me a 96th percentile, which many applicants in my cycle will probably have.
My question is that is it enough to meet the minimum cutoff criteria for test scores, or does it actually play a differentiating role between applicants even after they have met the cutoff criteria?
In the latter case, I would have to retake my test - in the former, I would be focusing on the other parts of my application like the essay or LORs.
I would highly appreciate your thoughts as this is a program that I really aspire for.

Hello, atast. A 167/167 is a highly competitive score in just about any program. Yes, the Quant score could be a little higher, but I know from my tutoring experience just how hard a 167 is for students to achieve in Verbal, and I highly doubt that many other applicants would score as high. I would say that as long as the rest of your application package is strong, you ought to consider going with the score you have. You could also post the same question in the Ask Admissions Consultants forum if you would like to solicit more feedback.
Congratulations on a fine GRE® performance. Good luck.
Admission test score is only about 20% of your application process. Other factors, like essay, resume, recommendations, undergrad GPA, work experience, interview and major you look to graduate all this will influence through the entire process of getting an admit.
