Hey there!
I am no expert in this but applied to a few schools and got admits from 3 T-25 schools this year so will share my two cents
1. Figure out the Post mba goals and why that goal ? It does not really need to be the goal that you will actually commit to post MBA but it will be good if it is.
2. Once you have your goal start filtering the schools with country first. For example, i want to be in Tech so i only focused on the US schools because all tech giants are US based.
3. Now filter the schools based on your post MBA goals and/or specialization.
4. Attend the webinars/ adcom events of different schools. See if you like the culture. Only you figure that out then think why you liked the school and then fidn schools with similar criteria. Eg. I wanted to go to schools with medium/ small class size so that i get leadership opportunities at clubs and also smaller class size helps you get to know everyone well.
5. Look at that schools GMAT ranges. Tbh it's just one factor so if you have performed exceptionallg well at work or have done something unique that can tip the scales in your favour even with a lower GMAT score.
Overall if you have good work achievements and extracurriculars from past 3-5 years then you can target schools from T-50 except the top 10. Also the rankings varies a lot for different forums so check multiple ones.
