ᅠᅠResearchers: Ethicists (philosophers of ethics) devote their careers to reflecting on morality and presumably care deeply about it. Moral reflection tends to promote moral behavior, and ethicists tend to be both more prone to and more skilled at moral reflection than non-ethicists. Given that the philosophical ethical theories of ethicists broadly agree with widely accepted moral standards, we expect that ethicists would tend to be better behaved than non-ethicists with regard to widely accepted moral standards.

ᅠᅠTo test this expectation we conducted a survey of attendees of a philosophical conference to assess whether people who have contact with ethicists believe that ethicists are, indeed, particularly well-behaved with regard to widely accepted moral standards. The attendees—each among exactly one of the categories of ethicist, other philosophers (non-ethicists), and non-academics—were asked to evaluate the moral behavior of ethicists as compared to that of other philosophers and non-academics.

Results tab tells us that 23 Non-Academics on  average   gave 3.8 rating to ethicists relative to other philosophers. Doesn't give how many of the 23 actually gave rating below 4.

Response distribution tab skips a row where respondent group is Non-Academics. Insufficient data to check in column # of responses Better (1-3)

Hi KarishmaB I went over the video solution. I am still confused about the following pointer in the 3rd ques ''Which respondent group rated itself as being the most well-behaved morally?'', how are we able to calculate this?

In tab 2, Ethicists rated themselves 3.4 and 3.1 i.e. better than both Other philosophers and Non academics. Hence Ethicists rated themselves most well-behaved morally.

Other philosophers and Non academics rated themselves equal to Ethicists (by giving 4 each). So they are not claiming that they are better than Ethicists.

Hii.. how you compared 'Non academics' to 'Ethicist'? It says "Ethicist" gave avg rating for 'other Philosoper{Non ethicist) and Non academics" how can we relate non academics with ethicist?

Hello, while there isn't anything inherently wrong with this, I do see that you're mistaking "Majority" (more than half, only "non-ethicists" (other philosophers + non-academics) and "philosophers" satisfies this) with "Plurality" (Largest group/block but not more than half). It might not be relevant in this question in particular since i think it has been designed to circumvent this wording, but some questions do focus on this wording.

	How many of the non-ethicist philosophers surveyed reported better behavior by ethicists relative to non-academics?
	Which respondent group, on average, gave the highest rating for the moral behavior of ethicists?
	How many of the non-academics surveyed reported better behavior by ethicists relative to other philosophers?
	Which respondent group rated itself as being the most well-behaved morally?
	How many people responded to the researchers’ survey?
