We have to check whether the change will add $200 to this year’s budget.

1. Increasing the amount spent on drinks by 40% 
that is = .4*500= $200 (500 is this year budget)

2. Increasing the amount spent on balloons by 100 percent
this year budget for balloons =100 so by increasing budget even 100% , we not achieve increase of $200 this year.

3. Spending the same amount this year on both types of appetizers as was spent last year.
last year total budget on appetizers = 400+400 
This year budget = 300+300 =600 
So it will increase budget by $200

1)Yes,since increasing 40% on drinks = 500*.4= 200$, so yes it will increase 200$ budget.

2)No,Increasing the amount spend on balloons by 100% = 100+100=200$, but here the change is only of 100$

3)Yes,since last year total budget on both appetizers =400+400=800$ and this year's total=300+300=600$ so if we use last year's value then 100$ is increased in both values, thus increasing overall value by 200$

Statement 1:  The amount spent on drinks this year is $500. 40% of $500 is $200, so increasing the budget for drinks by 40% would increase the overall budget by the required $200, so the answer is Yes.

Answer: Yes

Statement 2:  The amount spent on balloons this year is $100. 100% of $100 is $100, less than the $200 increase required, so the answer is no.

Answer: No

Statement 3:  Last year, $100 more was spent on Cold Appetizers ($400 – $300 = $100), and $100 more was spent on Hot Appetizers ($400 – $300 = $100). Returning to last year's budget for these two items would increase the budget by the required $200, so the answer is Yes.

Answer: Yes
