Hi, but according to the table, shouldn't the answer for the second statement be the reverse? domestic is 262 and int is 141.
Bismuth83
1. The questions asks us to determine whether the following statements are true or false based on the information given.

2. There is a strong positive correlation between Domestic Commuter Flights and Total Domestic Flights. If we arrange the domestic commuter flights in increasing order - 59973, 64971, 68726, 81302, 83428, 91600 - then the associated total domestic flights will also increase - 230242, 250413, 252445, 272804, 288025, 302958. So, this statement is true.

3. The median of total domestic flights is less than twice the median of total international flights. The median of total domestic flights is equal to \(\frac{140796 + 142482}{2} = 141639\) and the median of total international flights is equal to \(\frac{252445 + 272804}{2} = 262624.5\). \(2 * 141639 = 283278 > 262624.5\). So, this statement is true.

4. The range of non-revenue flights is greater than the range of charter flights. The range of non-revenue flights is equal to \(1728 - 525 = 1203\) and the range of charter flights is equal to \(1823 - 30 = 1793\). \(1203 < 1793\). So, this statement is false.

Hello!

Yes, that would be true if we were just comparing those values. However, the statement is "the median of total domestic flights is less than twice the median of total international flights." So, we're actually comparing 262 with 141*2 = 282 instead.

I hope that helped you!

statement a: yes, because when Domestic Commuter Flights is increasing so does the total Domestic Flights and when there is a decrease both are showing same behavior, Hence it is agreed both are showing positive correlation.

statement b: yes, when arranged in an order that is all in a seq higher to lower or lower to higher the middle one is median value, if there are two middle values then avg of both is median value. Here median of total domestic flights - avg of 252,445 & 272,804 is 262,624.5 and median of total international flights is avg of 140,796 & 142,482 is 141,639. now twice of 141,639 is more than 262,624.5 hence the answer is yes.

statement c: range is difference of higher and lower values of the group. Here range for non revenue flights is 1728-525 = 1203 & range for charter flights is 1823-30 = 1793 which is higher than non revenue flights, therefore the answer is no

yes, yes & no is the answer for this question
