Is n(n + 1) a multiple of 3?
(1) n(n − 1) is a multiple of 3.
(2) n − 2 is a multiple of 3.
(1) n(n − 1) is a multiple of 3.
(2) n − 2 is a multiple of 3.

Any 3 consecutive integers will always have one multiple of 3.
F.S 1, we know that n(n-1) is a multiple of 3. Thus, either n is a multiple of 3, which means n(n+1) is a multiple of 3(a YES for the question stem).
OR (n-1) is a multiple of 3, then both n AND (n+1) are not multiples of 3(a NO for the question stem). Insufficient.
F.S 2, we know that (n-2) is a multiple of 3. Thus, the next multiple of 3 would be (n-2)+3 = (n+1), and hence n(n+1) is a multiple of 3. Sufficient.

Is n(n + 1) a multiple of 3?
(1) n(n − 1) is a multiple of 3. If n=0, then the answer is YES but if n=1, then the answer is NO. Not sufficient.
(2) n − 2 is a multiple of 3 --> n={multiple of 3}+2 --> n+1={multiple of 3}+2={multiple of 3} --> n(n + 1)=n*{multiple of 3}={multiple of 3}. Sufficient.
Answer: B.
