The integer x is how much greater than 4?
(1) 1/10^x = 0.000001
(2) 10^x = 1,000,000
(1) 1/10^x = 0.000001
(2) 10^x = 1,000,000

The question is "what is x-4 = ?"
Consider 1) \(1/10^x = 0.000001 => 10^-6\). Sufficient . Select A and D
Consider 2) \(10^x = 1,000,000 => 10^6\). Sufficient. Select D
Answer is D.

From Statement 1 : 10^-x= 10^-6 , so you have the value of x and the hence the difference between x and 4
From Statement 2: 10^x =10^6, again we have value of x and the difference between x and 4
So both statements individually are sufficient.
Also, it helps to know that on all GMAT DS questions of this kind the answer, when reachable from both the statements individually, is the same. Or in other words, the two statements do not contradict each other.
