m and n needn't be integers. 
Say m = 9.5 and n = 0.5
5 odd integers between m and n.
OR
Say m = 10.5 and n = 1.5
4 odd integers between m and n.

Now, both statements give the same information i.e m-n=9
if m=19 and n=10, then there are 4 odd numbers, but if m=19.5 and n=10.5, then there are 5 odd numbers
