If N is a multiple of 3, is the N/3 an odd integer?
(1) N = 3K where K is an integer.
(2) N = 6J + 3 where J is an integer
(1) N = 3K where K is an integer.
(2) N = 6J + 3 where J is an integer

S1 - N=3K
N/3 can be even or odd.
Insufficient.
S2 - N = 6J + 3
N/3 = 2J+1
2J is always even and even no. + 1 =odd no.
Sufficient.

(1) N = 3K so N/3 = 3K/3 = k. Now whether this is even or odd depends on the value of k, which we don't know. So Insufficient.
(2) N = 6J + 3, so N/3 = 6J/3 + 3/3 = 2J + 1. This will definitely be odd since J is an integer and 2J is even (so 2J+1 will be odd). Sufficient.
So B answer
(2) N = 6J + 3, so N/3 = 6J/3 + 3/3 = 2J + 1. This will definitely be odd since J is an integer and 2J is even (so 2J+1 will be odd). Sufficient.
