Two numbers X and Y both lie to the left of 0 on the standard number line. Is X < Y?
(1) X+Y < Y
(2) X*Y > Y
(1) X+Y < Y

Left of 0 means both are NEGATIVE, so X and Y are negative..
1) X+Y<Y..
Will be TRUE in all scenarios ..
Adding two negative numbers will always be lease than one of the values..
But we cannot say anything about the relationship between the two..

Again when you multiply two negative numbers, we get a positive value and it will be greater than a negative value..

Take any two numbers say x=-2 and y=-3
-2+(-3)=-5<-3 and <-2 both
