If the figure above shows three circles with diameters AB, BC and AC, what is the area of the shaded region?
(1) AC/2 = BC
(2) BC = 3

Please refer the attached figure...
area of I = area of II = (area of bigger circle - area of III - area of IV )/2
we are looking for II + IV........... this requires us to know the radius of ll three circles...
AB=AC+BC, so just two values will be sufficient
(1) AC/2 = BC
nothing on numeric values
insuff
(2) BC = 3
nothing about AB
insuff
combined
BC=3 so AC = 2*3=6 and AB=6-3=3
sufficient as we can find all areas
