What is the remainder if the positive integer y is divided by 3?

(2) y is a multiple of 6.

What is the remainder if the positive integer y is divided by 3?
(1) y is an even integer.
(2) y is a multiple of 6.
1) y can be 2,4,6,8,10,12 and remainders =2,1,0,2,1,0 so we dont know what is the remainder.
2) y is multiple of 6 then we always get remainder =0 so B is correct

What is the remainder if the positive integer y is divided by 3?

Statement 1 doesn’t really tell us anything about the prime factors of y which yield multiple possibilities 10/3= R1 and 12/3= R0.
(2) y is a multiple of 6
Statement 2 gives us a lot of info. Y is an even integer divisible by both 2 and 3. Since 3 is a prime factor of 6, Y must be divisible by 3; therefor, the remainder is 0. SUFFICIENT
