Is the area of the parallelogram ABDE above less than that of a square with sides 8 units long?
∠BAF = 30°
∠CED = 2(∠CDE)

We have to know the area of the parallelogram for answering the question...
For that, we should know the altitude or any one angle as all other angles can be found from it..
(1) ∠BAF = 30°
We can find the altitude BF in triangle BFC as the triangle is 30-60-90
Suff
(2) ∠CED = 2(∠CDE
This gives us ∠CED +∠CDE =90....2∠CDE +∠CDE =90.......∠CDE =30.. ∠CDE =∠BAF = 30°..OPPOSITE angles
Again triangle is 30-60-90, even BFC is 30-60-90 and we can find the altitude
