Solution
Step 1: Analyse Question Stem
- • p and q are integers.
Step 2: Analyse Statements Independently (And eliminate options) – AD/BCE
Statement 1: p is an even number.
- • \(p^9\) is an even number [Every power of an even number is even]
• \(p*q\) is also an even number [Multiplication of any integer with even number is even]
- o \(p^9 + p*q\) = even + even = even [Addition of two even numbers is even]
Statement 2: q is an odd number.
- • Case 1: If p is an even number, then \(p^9 + p*q\) is also an even number [Same as above]
• Case 2: If p is an odd number
- o Then, \(p^9\) is also an odd number [any power of an odd number is odd]
- \(p*q\) is also an odd number [multiplication of two odd number is odd]
