The catch word is positive integers. Had it been merely integers, we could have thought of C as an answer if both statements had distinct equations.
Positive integers restrict the value to quite an extent.
1. 4x+y=7
Least value of x has to be 1. So 4*1+y=7...y=3....(1,3)
But the moment we put x as the next higher value, y becomes negative.
So only possibility is (1,3)
Sufficient
2. 5x+2y=11
x=1, then 2y=11-5=6....y=3
x=2, then 2y=11-10=1...y is not an integer.
Sufficient
