Taking square root on both sides
|x-1| > 3
x > 4 or x < -2
The statement is not sufficient and we can eliminate A and D.

\(x = |x^2 - 20|\)
Squaring both sides of the equation
\(x^2 = x^4 + 400 -40x^2 \)
\(x^4 + 400 - 41x^2 = 0\)
\(x^2(x^2 - 16) - 25(x^2 - 16) = 0\)
\((x^2 - 25) (x^2 - 16) = 0\)
\(x^2 = 25\) | x = +5, -5
\(x^2 = 16 \) | x = +4, -4
We cannot have negative values of x, as x = |something|, hence x has to be non negative.
We can eliminate the possibility of -5 & -4. Thus x = 5 or 4. Is x > 3 - Yes.
