I had my GMAT today and i scored 610 (quant 48 and verbal 26). I need a score of 650+ to get into collages I'm looking for. Can i crack it with 2-3 weeks preparation? I know i need to work on my verbal. Please suggest.

Yes. Possible. I went from 690 to 750 in a months time.

I think it is doable!

You must concentrate on RC and SC - i think this two sections are the most important to crack the V30 barier.

I don't think it's possible for you to improve your RC drastically in 2-3 weeks but SC can definitely improve. How did you prepare for verbal, specially SC, the last time around?

But I agree with the others it's definitely possible to go from 610 to 650 in 2-3 weeks assuming you concentrate on specific areas of the test.

I actually disagree with the above poster. RC is one of the EASIEST to improve on if you really pay attention to what's being said in the passage. It's more about effective reading than blind reading. You don't have to read the passage four times. You need to understand the flow of events in concise manner. If you have the MGMAT RC, then do their Question Banks. Their RC passages are so much more convoluted, but eventually, if you learn to pick out the main idea, theme, author's opinion and structure of the passage you're good to go.

Thanks for your advice. before the actual test, i had 90% accuracy in SC and 70-80% in CR. RC has been my nightmare. Can any one advice more on improving RC? Thanks in advance!!

Agree on this statement, especially with MGMAT RC questions. They're very convoluted and great practice for the GMAT.

Yes but you have to wait at least 4 weeks to take the exam again

whiplash, What do you mean by effective reading? Only now, i have started doing some practice as I hate to read GMAT passages. Can we take a passage for example and discuss? Currently when I read a passage I am trying to find view points, purpose of each paragraph and the tone of the author but still end up choosing wrong answers for some questions.

Very Doable

It looks like you're sorted for Quants - so focus on verbal.

MGMAT Guides are FANTASTIC, especially the CR and SC guides.

Whiplash makes some fantastic points about RC.
